Re-Brand

Time for a Change

You may have been following along with our teases on Instagram regarding our re-brand. We are so happy to finally announce it is official that your friends at Polka Dots & Rosebuds Interiors are now PDR Interiors! Along with our streamlined name, we have updated the logo and the website as well! Throughout the years, our brand has matured and so has our work & we thought it was time our logo and website caught up! We have been working on this update for quite a while and we hope you all love it as much as we do!

Inspiration

The colors in our new logo are navy and gray, a classic and clean combination that we feel represents us well. You’ll also notice we’ve added a greek key emblem to the logo as well. This is a symbol that is seen in a lot of decor items and also acts as a nod to our niche market among the Greek (Sorority) community. Its also a motif we love to incorporate into our designs as it is both a classic and beautiful pattern.

Same Team New Look

Fear not! It is the same team here at PDR and our services have not changed in the slightest. We are here to help clients bring their design goals to life just as we always have! Thank you all for joining us on this amazing journey and supporting us every step of the way.

Holiday Decorating Trends

Nature Inspired

Polka Dots & Rosebuds Interiors

In recent years, nature inspired elements have been huge in holiday decorating. This trend can be so beautiful and peaceful when incorporated into your holiday decor. If you are going for this look, keep your eyes out for anything that you would find in nature (animals, wood, greenery etc.) as your jumping off point. These are photos from a woodland themed tree we did for a client. We used mostly neutral colors with pops of red here and there along with woodland creatures and faux logs to create the look!

Navy has been a big trend in all facets of decorating so it is fitting for it to now be spilling over into the world of holiday decorating. Navy is a fantastic color to incorporate into your holiday decor because it is a deep, rich color that compliments almost any color that you would normally associate with the season.

Hot Colors for Summer

Navy

Polka Dots & Rosebuds Interiors

Polka Dots & Rosebuds Interiors

One color that is huge right now is navy. This is such a gorgeous color to incorporate into your decor. Navy is a deep and dramatic color so it is best used in appropriately proportioned doses. For example, you wouldn't want to use this color on all the walls in a tiny powder bathroom, it would be just too overpowering. If you are going to paint your walls in navy, make sure the size of the room can handle that deep color. It is also great to use in touches here and there like pillows and accessories.

Soft Gray

Soft grays and “greiges” (a mix between beige and gray) are another very popular color not only for summer but for years to come. This is coming to be known as the “new neutral” as people are getting away from the “builder beiges” and boring tans. There is such a wide range within this palette that you are sure to find just the right one for your home’s needs.

Kelly Green

Finally we have the show stopper that is kelly green. This color makes such a fun and bold statement in your decor. This color is best used with touches here and there. It can overwhelm a space in a hurry if over used. That being said, it can add that perfect punch of color your space needs!

Father’s Day: How to Create a Masculine Space that is Functional

Continuing with our Father’s Day theme, we would like to talk about how to create a masculine space that is still attractive and functional. In terms of home decor, it seems as though feminine touches tend to win out over their masculine counterpart. We are here to say that masculine decor does not have to be limited to a bachelor pad or a man cave. Masculine touches can be a welcome contrast throughout your home.

This photo is a fantastic example of how to incorporate masculine items like animal skulls, distressed wood, and a deep navy wall together to create a beautiful, cohesive look. As time goes on, these “masculine” items are becoming more and more mainstream and used throughout home decor.

Leather is a great way to mix in more masculine touches into your home decor. This tufted leather sofa paired with an antique trunk and mixed wood and metal end table create the perfect masculine inspired space. If this look is a little too far into the masculine look than you are going for in your home, try taking just some of these elements and combining them with more feminine pieces including soft textures and soothing colors.

Finally, bold artwork is another masculine touch that can be incorporated into any space to give it an extra edge. This abstract, black and white piece from Kirklands.com is a perfect example of a great piece to incorporate into your space. This thick, brush stroke look with stark contrast between the colors is a very popular look right now.
