Decor for a Late Summer Outdoor Party

Although Summer is coming to an end, the weather is still plenty nice enough to enjoy your outdoor space! If you are throwing a late summer outdoor party, you may be interested in freshening up your outdoor living space. Now is a fantastic time to purchase outdoor furniture and rugs as the season is coming to a close. Below are photos from a clients outdoor living space we worked on last summer. We opted for cool blues, aquas, and greens for the overall color scheme. These are great colors to use as people associate them with being calm as well as with the beach. These are all good feelings to have while enjoying your outdoor space!

Make it a Guest Room

One great way to utilize extra space in your house is to make it into a guest room. Having a space for your guests to stay when they come in town is such a great thing to be able to offer. It is a fantastic way to make your friends and family feel welcome in your home. A couple of nice things to have in your guest room is a framed copy of the wifi password for their use, as well as a tray with things like freshly folded towels and a water for them.

Turn it into a Craft Space

For all of you crafters out there who do not have the space in your home to keep all of your projects and materials, we feel your pain! If you are lucky enough to have some extra space come available in your home, turning it into a craft space is a wonderful way to make the most of it. These are some photos of how others have made their craft room dreams into a reality!

How to Organize your Home for Back-To-School Storage

Backpack / Coat Storage Combo

One way your home can become easily cluttered once back-to-school season hits is by backpacks, shoes, and coats being thrown all over as soon as the kids get home. Creating a designated storage space for these items can easily eliminate this clutter. Giving each child a specific spot for their items makes it easy for them to come in and know exactly where they go without having to take them all the way to their individual rooms, or worse, the floor.

Command Center

Creating a “command center” in your home is a fabulous way of getting organized, not only for back-to-school, but all year round. This is a place where your calendar, mail, homework, paperwork and any other crucial items can be dropped off in an organized way. Each family has different needs when it comes to what will go in your specific command center, but we have shown some great examples of how others have created them in their homes.

Designated Work Space

Giving your child/children designated work spaces is a sure fire way of helping them stay organized and on track for back-to-school. This space does not need to be large by any means. By simply giving them an area that they know is theirs will encourage them to stay on task and keep their own space organized.

How to Decorate a Dorm Room

With college classes starting again soon we thought it would be a perfect time to share some tips on dorm room decorating. Decorating a dorm wether it be for yourself or for your family member or friend can be such a fun experience. This is a place to really let self expression shine through. It can be a difficult transition time for many, so knowing they have their very own space to come back to that is decorated to fit their personality can be very helpful and comforting. Here at PD&R we got the chance to decorate a model dorm room like space in one of the Greek houses we worked on. Below are some shots from this project that may inspire some dorm room decorating ideas for yourself or your loved one!
