Three Cost-effective ways to Transition your Home from Winter to Spring

Add in Greenery
Polka Dots & Rosebuds Interiors

One great way to transition your decor from Winter to Spring is by adding in greenery throughout your home. Seeing more green in nature is the first sign of Spring so it makes perfect sense to bring that feeling right into your home. We like using faux greenery along with other accessories for our clients for their hassle-free qualities.

Swap Heavy Fabrics for Lighter Ones

It is easy to weigh your decor down with heavy fabrics and textures through the cold winter months. Once Spring comes, a great way to transition away from that look is by shedding those layers and swapping heavier fabrics for their lighter weight counterparts.

Find your Favorite Spring Wreath

One of the most simple ways to welcome Spring to to your home is by adding a fun seasonal wreath. There are countless styles of wreaths that can fit right in with the light and fresh feeling that Spring brings. These are just two examples of the types of wreaths that would work perfectly!

How to Decorate for a March Madness Viewing Party

Chalk Board Bracket

The bracket that goes along with March Madness is a key component that should be a part of any viewing party. One fun way to incorporate the bracket into the party’s decor is by using it on a large chalkboard where you can write in the games and their winners up to the point of the party.
Team-themed Colors

There is a good chance that if you are having a viewing party for one or more of the March Madness games, some if not all of the guests will be pulling for the same team. Using that team’s colors for the decor at your party is a great jumping off point. Here in Kentucky, those colors will most likely be either blue and white for the Kentucky Wildcats or red and black for the Louisville Cardinals. These are examples of how to work either one of those color combinations in!

Skip the Theme if its not for You

Some may just want to have a viewing party to watch a number of the games without having a specific teams colors on display. To that same point, others may not want to even have a basketball theme at all as it can come off a bit child-like. In this case, just go with party decor that suits you and/or your guests taste! This can go in any number of directions, these examples show two shots from one theme-neutral get together that turned out beautifully!

Statement Wallpaper

Wallpaper has seen a major comeback in the past few years. This Spring and into 2017 we will see the wallpaper trend go to the next level by using statement wallpapers as accent walls. Marble is another trend that has gained speed recently so you may even see these trends combined with marble wallpaper. Geometric wallpapers are also very popular right now and make for great statements as well.
Bringing the Outdoors In
Indoor plants are another trend we will see this Spring in home decor. Faux is always another option of course if  you don't want the responsibility of keeping plants alive. Some trendy plants we are seeing incorporated into design include fiddle leaf fig trees, succulents, and indoor vines in planters.

Fashion Week Follow-up - Fashion Trends that Tie-in with Décor Trends.

With fashion week just wrapping up, we were inspired to talk about how fashion trends tie in with decor trends. Since home decor trends tend to stick around a bit longer than fashion trends, we are going to look back at Fall 2016 Fashion Week and show how some trends have crossed over into decor!

One of the trends we saw on the Fall 2016 Fashion Week runways was velvet. This is a fabric that comes and goes from fashion and decor trends constantly. It is back and better than ever in decor, especially in bright a bold hues like this Jonathan Adler chair shown here.

Sparkle and Shine

Sparkly and shiny pieces were also seen all over the runway. This is a fun trend that has crossed over into the home decor world and is certainly best in small or subtle doses. Below is a photo of how shiny metallic tiles were used as an accent wall in this bathroom to create an iridescent statement!

Metal Details

Metal accents and small details were another trend we saw throughout the 2016 Fashion Week. Metal details are used in decor all of the time to add a different texture in with all of the expected soft fabrics. Metal pieces like trays, candle holders, vases, and other accessories are all great ways to work in this gorgeous trend.

Faux Fur

Lastly, faux fur was seen, especially in the form of cross body pieces in 2016. Faux fur is such a fun and luxurious trend that can be easily worked into your decor. Pillows, throws, and rugs are some of the most obvious pieces where you can get this soft and cozy trend in. One of the most popular ways to add faux fur to a space right now is by placing a small white faux fur rug onto an accent chair for an added layer of style as well as comfort!
