Finally, PPG has named Black Flame as their 2018 color of the year. They call it a “statement making black with deep tones of indigo”. This is certainly a bold choice, especially with colors of the year in the recent past being among the lighter family. We picture this color making a beautiful front door or even a living room or office for those bold enough to try it!

Flooring - Whats Hot?

Luxury Vinyl Tile

PDR Interiors

LVT or LVP (luxury vinyl tile/plank) is huge right now. It is a product that looks like wood or tile depending on the style you choose, and it has all the benefits of high quality vinyl. These benefits include being extremely durable, water resistant and easy to fix and swap out if there are any problems. Another great thing about this product is its warmth. It does not have the hard hollow sound you get with other options like laminate, or the cold feel of tile.

Wood Look Tile

PDR Interiors

If you are looking for tile but your not interested in the look of stone, try wood look tile. These photos show great examples of wood look tile. As you can see it looks just like real hardwood but you don't have to worry about the upkeep that goes along with refinishing. Wood look tile is very popular for bathrooms especially.

Reclaimed Hardwood

blessthismessplease.com

With the farmhouse look that Chip and Jojo have made so popular in recent years, all things reclaimed wood have swept the home decor scene. This is also true for reclaimed hardwood flooring. The amazing thing about this option is that no two spaces will look the same due to its uniqueness and character!

Oil Rubbed Bronze, Brass, Brushed Nickel - What’s Hot in Finishes?

Oil Rubbed Bronze

overstock.com

When it comes to finishes, oil rubbed bronze will always be a classic and timeless choice. Its dark tones can make for a gorgeous contrast against light cabinets and countertops. This is also a great choice if you are looking for something easy to keep clean and looking nice. It wont show nearly as many spots and stains as something like polished chrome would for example.

Brass

PDR Interiors

Brass is a highly debated option these days. Many still associate brass with being outdated because they are picturing it on door hinges and things like that. We agree, keep the brass off of your door hardware, but try it in other areas like your chandelier, or faucet for a fun statement! These photos show examples of how to use brass in beautiful updated ways!

Brushed Nickel

PDR Interiors

Finally a fantastic go to finish is brushed nickel. This finish gives a crisp and clean feel to whatever space it is in. Its updated and fresh while also being muted and simple so it does not steal the show away from other features you want people to notice. Brushed nickel is without a doubt what we recommend the most out of these three for its classic and transitional style!

Bathroom Refresh - Quick Tips for an Update

Update your Shower Curtain

atlantahomesmag.com
Bathrooms are one of the easiest places in your home to update and make a big impact with small changes. Your shower curtain is a place where you can get a large impact with just one item so it is a great way to refresh your space. You may even consider having 2 or 3 shower curtains that you can keep on rotation every few months. This way you can give yourself a change every once in a while without having to always go out and buy new ones.

Change out your Bath Mats

designlovefest.com

Bath mats can really take a beating over time and become dingy and even change color. This may be something you don't immediately think about updating when it comes to your bathroom but swapping your old mats out for fresh can work wonders for the whole space. If you choose to have a backup shower curtain or 2, consider having coordinating mats for each curtain. This certainly does not mean they all have to match, you just want to make sure everything coordinates nicely.

Paint/Wallpaper

PDR Interiors

Lastly one if the biggest impacts you can make in a small space like your bathroom is to update the paint color or wallpaper. Wallpaper can make a gorgeous statement in your bathroom or powder room, and with it being the star of the show, your other items can remain simple and neutral {can’t get easier than that!}. When it comes to painting your bathroom, there are so many different directions you can go. Keep it clean and simple with a soft blue green or cream, or go all out and have fun with a color you wouldn't want to commit to in a larger room.
